Could not keep your pool clear last year, always green or cloudy.
It may be time to have your filtration system serviced. Most times a cloudy pool comes from a poorly maintained pool filter or improper water turn over. A dirty filter can be chemically cleaned and in most cases clear up the pool.Check the turnover rate of your pool. The pump should run long enough to move the entire gallonage of the pool thru the system at least once per day. To calculate this take the pool capacity and divide it by the capacity of the pump; which will give you the number of minutes required.
Ex. (30,000 gallon pool ÷ 70 gallons per minute of pump capacity = 429 minutes ÷ 60 minutes per hour = Approx. 7 hours, run-time required daily).
Another problem is with gunite (plastered) pools. The plaster is degrading due to age or improper chemical in balance. The plaster surface becomes extremely rough and pitted allowing algae to embed itself in these depressions where shock and algaecide has a difficult time killing it. Then, as soon as the water warms up or it rains and the chlorine level drops there is an overnight algae bloom. If this cycle is constantly repeating then it is likely time to consider getting your pool re-plastered.
